Proposed NASG
Display Layout

OK, here is the deal.... several of us started talking about how the National Association of S Gaugers could do two things at once; increase their membership and help promote S in general. Since nothing educates better than showing, we felt that well-built, traveling layouts, one with S and Sn3, the other a Flyer, could be made and shipped to the big conventions and train shows.

So, before you can actually do it, you must do some design work and see if it is do-able! Here is the first thoughts put on paper. There is a bunch of discussion on the S-scale list found on the Onelist page. http://www.onelist.com Join us for the fun!

Here we will be discussing just the S scale layout. It will be pure scale and not have any Flyer components. The Flyer folks will do their own thing.

Note: None of these sketches are drawn to any scale.... fact is, they are hardly drawn! However, they will give you an idea about the proposed layout for the NASG to use in promotions.

The overall size is 6 feet by 9 feet.

OK, here is your chance.... using the above area, design a track plan that will have two standard gauge mainlines, 33" and 29" radii, and a loop of Sn3 with 25" radius. Remember the trains must be able to be turned on and run without someone controlling them.

Decide which structures should be here and where.

The scenery can go about 3" below the track, and about 17" above.

If you have a scanner, email us a .jpg file. Otherwise drop your ideas into the snail mail and we will scan and post them here. E-Mail your comments, questions, & suggestions.

Richard Snook in Australia was the first to submit his ideas. Take a look!

Have fun!
