Boiler House
Hyde Pulp Mill

One of the original buildings that still stands is the simple boiler house. Here a simple water-tube boiler provides the steam heat needed to cook the chips. And additional steam is used for heating and operating some auxiliary equipment. The fire is fed from the chips that cannot be used in the pulping process. A four-inch pipe delivers these chips from the main building with the help of a small amount of air pressure. Water is received from an underground pipe from the pump house, and in case of emergencies when the pump goes out, via gravity feed from the tank on top of the main building.
